KARAKACHAN
Livestock Guardian Dog
The Karakachan Dog is one of Europe's oldest breeds. Its ancestors started forming as early as the third millennium BC. Created to guard its owners flock and property, it does not hesitate to fight wolves, bears or coyotes and will defend its owner and his family in case of danger.
The name Karakachan is taken from the nomadic shepherds of Thracian origin and the oldest inhabitants of the Balkans. Due to their conservative stock-breeding traditions, they managed to preserve some of the oldest breeds of domestic animals in Europe to include the Karakachan sheep, the Karakachan horse and the Karakachan dog.
The Karakachan dogs are brave, powerful and loyal and they have proven to be invaluable livestock guardians.

An adult Karakachan can be very beautiful yet extremely vicious when defending his family and flock.

Bre and Orel
Some Karakachans are born without tails. This is a good shot to see that he is a Karakachan that doesn't have a tail.

We have a contact in Virginia that supplies protective/defensive collars for your LGD's if you live in a location that has a lot of predators like coyotes, mountain lions or bears.
Can you see something trying to grab your LGD by the neck when they are wearing one of these type of collars?

The collar Orel is wearing here also has the metal spikes on it. If you have the ability to zoom in you can see them around the bottom of his neck.
Just for reference, the counter top behind Orel stands at 36 inches.
